Funky elephant 13

The 13th Funky Elephant Festival was celebrated at Tavastia and Semifinal clubs in Helsinki between the April 12th and 14th, 2007. The opening Thursday was a very special smoky and jazzful night at Tavastia. But for Friday's and Saturday's wild and colourful nights the two separate venues were connected into each other. The programme offered a multicultural and soulful mix of today's best black rhythm music from Finland and abroad.

Funk, soul, hip hop, dancefloor jazz and urban rhythms were given the space they deserve. The Elephant led us from the savannas to the deepest jungles, while fourteen live acts and seven top dj's delivered the atmosphere. International stars The Coup (USA), The New Mastersounds (UK) and DJ Bonobo performed for the first time in their careers in Finland.

Next time the big elephant dance takes place at Elephantasy! on the 5th of May, 2007. Make sure not to miss it.
